A Couple Enters Adulthood as the Economy Crashes

The Leonard Lopate Show | Jan 16, 2017

Author Anna Pitoniak, an editor at Random House, joins us to discuss her debut novel, The Futures, which tells the story of Julia and Evan, two recent college graduates who come of age at the start of the 2008 financial crisis. Julia and Evan have dated all through college -- so their decision to move to New York together after graduation seems auspicious. But the year is 2008, during the financial crisis -- and once in New York City, their jobs – and their lives -- start taking very different paths. Anna Pitoniak's The Futures captures both the excitement and the anxiety of the period following college.

Anna will be in conversation with Glamour Books editor Liz Egan tonight (1/17) at 7pm at Barnes and Noble at 150 East 86th Street. For more information, click here.

Anna will be at Powerhouse Arena at 28 Adams St. in Dumbo, Brooklyn on Wednesday, February 1st. For more information, click here.
