Director Gianfranco Rosi joins us to discuss his new documentary, “Fire at Sea,” which won the Golden Bear at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. Shot on the Sicilian island of Lampedusa during the European migrant crisis, the film depicts the refugees’ dangerous Mediterranean crossing, and the daily life of the islanders. The film focuses on a 12-year-old boy from a local fishing family and a doctor who treats the migrants on their arrival.

"Fire at Sea" is playing at Cinema Village at 22 E 12th. For more information, click here.
