Over the course of the past three decades, Dar Williams has established herself as one of America’s most distinctive and thoughtful singer/songwriters. Her songs mine the personal and the universal, and whether she’s playing solo or with a band, her storytelling gifts are plain to hear. One song tells of a young refugee boy whose options seem to be zealotry and violence, until he is shown an alternative path. It’s called “I Am The One Who Will Remember Everything.” Dar Williams wrote that song almost 10 years ago and as long as we have refugees, she’ll probably keep singing it. She plays on Thursday, Oct. 7, at Symphony Space.
