Should You Ask Your Kid Before You Post Their Photo?

The Leonard Lopate Show | Jul 24, 2017

Parents love to share photos of their children on social media, but are they violating their child's right to privacy by sharing too many? At the same time, when do kids become responsible enough to use apps like Snapchat or Instagram? We hear from Stacey Steinberg, a legal skills professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, who has written several articles on topics around parenting, privacy and social media including an essay on “sharenting” in The Washington Post titled “Parenting in the Facebook Age: Should We Rethink How We Share?”.

This segment of "The Leonard Lopate Show" is guest hosted by Manoush Zomorodi, whose show "Note to Self" also recently looked into the question of whether or not parents should post photos of their kids online.

We want to hear from you! Do you ask your kids before you post photos of them online? Have you talked to them about using Snapchat? Let us know below in the comments!
