The New Sounds Live concert series continues with the annual Bang on a Can PCF Concert in which brand new works are commissioned by the people, for the people, as part of the Ecstatic Music Festival's 10th Anniversary season on Jan. 28, 2020, at Merkin Hall.
Hear world premieres by American composer and sound artist Amanda Berlind, Icelandic cellist-composer Hildur Guđnadóttir, American composer and sound artist Alvin Curran, and composer, drummer, and modular synth experimenter Qasim Naqvi. Plus, hear classic works by Julius Eastman - the super-groove of his Stay on It and New York composer Phil Kline's contemplative Exquisite Corpses.
The crowdfunded commissioning process is an ongoing partnership between audiences and Bang on a Can, which predates Kickstarter and has commissioned over 50 works for New York’s versatile chamber-electric band, Bang on a Can All-Stars. The concert will be recorded for later broadcast on New Sounds.
