The End of the Shutdown
The federal government is on its way to re-opening. Karen Tumulty, national political correspondent for The Washington Post, discusses the end of the shutdown, which party has the political upper hand and what comes next—especially regarding the fate of the so-called "Dreamers" and DACA.
Democrats learned what Republicans learned in the past: a government shutdown is a bad way to get what you want from the opposition party. Plus, whatever party is in the White House has the most power. -@ktumulty

@BrianLehrer Shutting down the govt fundamentally goes against the values of the party, so it’s understandable that Dems are reticent to use this tactic.

I think Schumer has a strategy and has the experience to get through this getting most of what the D's want with the R's looking even worse than they already do for 2018 elections.

I feel like @chuckschumer got out maneuvered politically. He played the wrong cards in this shutdown. He should've went for this deal on Friday instead of looking weak as dem leader
