As song titles go, “The World’s Biggest Paving Slab” is – well, it’s just plain weird. The song was our introduction to the UK band called English Teacher, and while they may go for deliberately, and cheekily prosaic names and titles, their music is often full of surprises. Singer Lily Fontaine uses the image of something really big that no one ever notices as a way to comment on celebrity, and notoriety.  The UK band English Teacher plays June 10 at Bowery Ballroom.
