Ensemble Signal plays Steve Reich at Brookfield Place, Oct. 15: Music For 18 Musicians
Tickets: FREE. Show at 7:30 pm.

In 1976, New York composer Steve Reich unveiled his piece called simply Music for 18 Musicians. This pulsing web of interwoven musical lines has become one of the most influential works of the past half century, and despite the name, it usually takes more than 18 musicians to play, simply because of the logistics of moving people from one instrument to another on a very crowded stage. Performing it is a big deal, and with Steve Reich’s own group no longer active, Ensemble Signal has taken up the mantle.

Ensemble Signal performs Music For 18 Musicians by Steve Reich on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 pm, in a free event at Brookfield Place; Wed., Oct. 16, they play four more works by Steve Reich as well.
