ETHEL performs Circus: Wandering City at BAM's Next Wave Festival
Tickets: $25-40. Shows at 7:30 pm, Wed.-Sat., 11/14-11/17

The New York-based string quartet called ETHEL has made a reputation for playing contemporary works and for putting together programs that have a big idea behind them. Wandering City is one such program. It deals with the circus – its history, its people, its grandeur and its seamy underbelly. Using film and interview clips from the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, Ethel adds music written by its own members to propel the story.

ETHEL performs their multimedia work Circus: Wandering City  Wednesday, 11/14 through Saturday, 11/17 at BAM’s Next Wave Festival, "diving into an overlooked, long stigmatized, and largely immigrant American subculture, whose denizens overcame the odds to swing and soar." (BAM Program Notes
