In 2009, composer Eve Beglarian spent 4 months kayaking and bicycling the length of the Mississippi River, which became the basis for a series of live performances and recordings, and it was during the River Project that Eve Beglarian first met pianist Lara Downes. Beglarian has written a new piece for Downes to play, which she will accompany with a film.

It’s all part of Sunday afternoon’s Bang On A Can Marathon concert, which features 16 brand new works by 16 pioneering composers. Watch 4 hours of world premiere online performances on Feb. 21; that's 4 hours of nonconformist, noncommercial, mind-blowing music. Works by Alvin Lucier! Jennifer Walshe! Matthew Shipp! Ingrid Laubrock! Gabriel Kahane! and many many more. John Schaefer co-hosts.
