The Brooklyn Americana Music Festival kicks off on Sept. 12, and for the next four days, various venues in Brooklyn will host folk, blues, bluegrass and more. The opening event is at Jalopy, in Red Hook, and includes short sets by several musicians playing later this weekend, including the Vermont folk singer Fern Maddie. She plays tonight at Jalopy and Saturday at the Dumbo Archway, both as part of the Brooklyn Americana Music Festival.  Many festival events are free. 

Fern Maddie's 2022 album the aptly named Ghost Story, includes this quietly stirring version of “The Maid On the Shore”:
