Reporters Compete for the Big Scoop in 'The Front Page'

The Leonard Lopate Show | Nov 17, 2016

Director Jack O’Brien joins us to talk about the new production of “The Front Page” on Broadway, along with actor Dylan Baker, who stars as the newspaperman, McCue. In the press room of Chicago’s Criminal Courts Building during the 1920s, reporters are covering the story of an escaped prisoner. When reporter Hildy Johnson accidentally discovers the runaway convict, he and his editor Walter Burns conspire to hide the man from the other reporters in order to get the scoop. The play inspired the 1940 film adaptation, "His Girl Friday."

"The Front Page" is playing at the Broadhurst Theatre through January 29th (235 West 44th Street).
