According to 2015 data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 53 million Americans, or 1 in 3 workers, are now earning income from "work that’s not a traditional 9-to-5." Michael Winship, President of Writers Guild of America, East since 2007 and senior writer with Moyers & Company and BillMoyers.com, and Steven Greenhouse, currently a visiting researcher at the Russell Sage Foundation and former labor and workplace reporter for The New York Times, discuss the growing reliance on freelance and temporary workers in the U.S., particularly in creative fields. They’ll also discuss how companies such as Uber rely on a part-time or contingent workers that do not provide benefits or worker protections.
