Are you tired of flying reindeer and talking snowmen? Bored of jolly elfs and jingling bells? Maybe it’s time to try a Christmas witch, a stiltwalking Angel Gabriel, and a battle between Mary and Satan fought with drums. All of those things are part of a 17th century southern Italian Christmas play being brought to New York by vocalist and drummer Alessandra Belloni and her troupe of musicians and dancers called I Giullari Di Piazza. 

The play is called La Cantata dei Pastori, The Shepherd’s Cantata, a Neapolitan holiday show being performed by I Giullari di Piazza tonight at Theater For The New City.
