The artist known as Ava Raiin was born in Minnesota, raised in Texas. Those are pretty radical opposites — and tension between opposites shows up in her work, as well: a base of classic R&B tweaked and stretched with electronic flourishes. The roster she’s worked with is pretty all over the place, too. Ava’s shared a stage with Melissa Etheridge, Blood Orange, Yoko Ono, and Carly Rae Jepsen… to name a few.
