Gig Alert: Iarla ó Lionáird and Contemporaneous perform works by Dan Trueman & Donnacha Dennehy
at National Sawdust, Sat. Oct. 28, with Isabelle O’Connell, piano and electronics
Tickets: $34. Show at 7:30PM

The Irish singer Iarla O Lionaird stole the show – and perhaps a few hearts - when he appeared in the Oscar-nominated film "Brooklyn" two years ago, standing in a crowded dining hall and singing an old Irish folk song. On stage, Iarla’s mesmerizing vocals have inspired a number of contemporary composers, including Donnacha Dennehy, who incorporated old Irish songs into this piece called “Grá agus Bás.”

“Grá agus Bás,” or Love and Death, featuring the Irish sean-nós singer Iarla O Lionaird. He’ll perform this piece by Donnacha Dennehy and a new work by Dan Trueman with the ensemble Contemporaneous tomorrow night, 10/28, at National Sawdust.
