Singer and guitarist Lou Barlow has one of the best—and longest—resumes in indie rock: the early hardcore punk band Deep Wound, the important alt-rock group Sebadoh, the cheeky Folk Implosion, and of course, the acclaimed indie trio Dinosaur Jr. But his new record Brace the Wave is just Lou …and a guitar. And that's how he showed up to our studio a while back to play a couple songs off the new album. He also talked about old Russian nautical paintings. Listen here.
