The Japanese quartet, Mono, plays a type of instrumental music commonly known as post-rock. Their songs build slowly, inexorably, to grand, almost orchestral climaxes. In fact, they’ve recorded with an orchestra before, but they’ve also proven over the years that they don’t need any help in getting loud. Mono plays tonight at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Earplugs not included.
