Gig Alert: Morton Subotnick at Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse, Lincoln Center

In 1967, the electronic music pioneer Morton Subotnick released "Silver Apples of the Moon," the first electronic record (for Buchla synthesizer) ever commissioned by a classical label. 

That was 50 years ago, and Subotnick is still pioneering new ways of generating sound. He’ll debut his newest piece, bluntly titled "Crowds and Power," for voice, electronic sound and live imagery featuring vocalist Joan La Barbara and Berlin-based artist Lillevan's visuals. Part of the Lincoln Center Festival, the run of three-night series of live performances of the seminal Silver Apples of the Moon along with "Crowds and Power," starts tonight and goes through Sat., July 22, at Lincoln Center’s Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse.
