The singer known simply as Odetta was an icon of the 1960s civil rights movement—she was, in fact, called “The Queen of American folk music” by Dr. Martin Luther King. Tonight, the artist Justin Hicks remixes and reimagines Odetta’s catalog, as part of a month-long Freedom Songs Festival dedicated to ongoing civil rights struggles.
