Gig Alert: Omar Sosa & Quarteto AfroCubano

Music Hub | Apr 30, 2015

ARTIST: Omar Sosa & Quarteto AfroCubano
GIG: Thursday night at BRIC House

Cuban jazz pianist Omar Sosa often wears his melting pot Afro-Caribbean musical influences on his sleeve—and in case you miss the point, he often puts them in the titles of his records, too. Recent albums have included Mulatos, Afreecanos, and The Afri-lectric Experience. His latest is called, Ilè – a Yoruba word for “home.” And the music itself is a return to Sosa’s more straight-ahead Afro-Cuban jazz. Listen to the moody “Sad Meeting” below, and click here for a recent Soundcheck session with Omar.
