Gig Alert: Teenage Jesus & The Jerks

Music Hub | Dec 11, 2015

ARTIST: Teenage Jesus and the Jerks
GIG: Friday night at Trans-Pecos

The late-1970's experimental music and art scene known as No Wave combined bits of nihilist philosophy, noise rock, and anti-establishment attitude, all with the volume cranked way up. One of the founding mothers of the genre was poet and singer Lydia Lunch. Her group Teenage Jesus and the Jerks described the grit and desolation of downtown New York with a pitch-black sense of humor. Tonight, the band plays a one-off show at Trans-Pecos in Ridgewood, to celebrate the release of a set of live recordings from the late 1970's.
