Pianist and composer Vijay Iyer has led jazz ensembles of various sizes, but he’s also a sought after composer, has done imaginative reworkings of pop songs, and explored the connections between jazz and the music of India. His most recent album, Far From Over, features an all-star lineup of jazz luminaries and has made it onto numerous Best Of 2017 lists. The Vijay Iyer Sextet is playing each night this week, through Saturday, at Birdland.
