Gig Alert: Zeal & Ardor at Saint Vitus
Tickets: $15. Show at 8PM.
(As of this writing, the show is sold-out. Some tickets may be available at the door.)

Zeal and Ardor is the name of a project by Manuel Gagneux, a mixed-race Swiss-American musician. The songs are an unexpected mix of black metal and what sounds like African American spirituals, chain gang songs, Delta blues, and the like. They’re recorded in a way that has fooled some listeners into thinking that Gagneux has actually sampled old songs, but you’d be hard pressed to find an old spiritual with lyrics like “Devil Is Fine.” Zeal and Ardor, with full band, plays for the first time in New York tonight at St. Vitus in Brooklyn.
