In 1941, Billie Holiday co-wrote the lyrics to her well known song, God Bless The Child. Holiday partnered with composer/songwriter Arthur Herzog Jr. Throughout her career, the two often worked together and he wrote several jazz songs she popularized, including "Don't Explain". Jonathan Schwartz walks us through the song, investigating its lyrics and the process of writing the legendary song.

Join The Jonathan Channel all month long, as we focus on the life and music of Billie Holiday.

In 1968, Stevie Wonder covered the song. You'll thanks us later.
