Welsh guitarist Gwenifer Raymond, now based in Brighton, England, adapts the American fingerpicking sound to her own ends, often suggesting stories and strange, haunted landscapes. Raymond actually has a Ph.D. in astrophysics, but she also has a taste for the gothic, and she found more to contemplate in the blues, folk, punk, and opera, than in the Big Bang. This is her piece called “Sometimes There’s Blood.” Gwenifer Raymond plays on May 29 at Public Records.
