The Hold Steady – The Stove & The Toaster (Weekly Music Roundup)

One of rock’s best storytellers is Craig Finn, the frontman of the band The Hold Steady. Many of his songs are like little movies, often involving young people behaving stupidly, or doomed love affairs, or good people in bad situations. The band’s new single is called “The Stove and the Toaster,” and it’s essentially a 3-minute heist film. And you just know, from the opening verse where he sings “it’s gonna be easy, it’s gonna be simple,”  that things won’t end well. 

The Hold Steady plays a SOLD-OUT show tomorrow night at White Eagle Hall in Jersey City, and in Asbury Park on Saturday night, July 28. This new single is part of our Weekly Music Roundup.
