How Lindy West Learned to Speak Up

The Leonard Lopate Show | May 13, 2016

Writer and editor Lindy West is no stranger to online harassment, in part because she doesn't shy away from fiercely outspoken and often hilarious writing on feminism, body shaming and gender inequality. She recently confronted one of her worst internet trolls and talks about that experience in a story for This American Life. In her new book book, Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman, she shares a collection of personal essays about her life and coming-of-age from a quiet, self-conscious woman to a “feminist-out-loud.”

Event: Lindy West will be speaking and signing copies of her book at Word Bookstore in Brooklyn (126 Franklin Street) on May 18th at 7 p.m.
