Ibibio Sound Machine – "Got To Be Who U Are" (Weekly Music Roundup)

“Got To Be Who U Are” is the new song from Ibibio Sound Machine, the London-based dance band fronted by Anglo-Nigerian singer Eno Williams. The group has always had a strong rhythmic drive, but this song dips into house music at the same time that it subverts that sound with some woozy, wayward electronics in the verses. Things lock in for the chorus, though, and while the song name checks various geographical locations, it also seems to do a little bit of time travel, with a strong 80s sound. The new single by Ibibio Sound Machine is part of our Weekly Music Roundup.
