For progressive populists, the path forward is clear: Democrats must get back in touch with the party’s working-class roots by championing policies such as Medicare for all, free public college tuition, and a guaranteed federal jobs program. They say this strategy is key to regaining power. But others argue that a handful of high-profile progressive wins have been over hyped and that centrist policies will win elections.
