The Italian Americans: The Values of La Famiglia

The Brian Lehrer Show | Feb 24, 2015

The new PBS series "The Italian Americans" chronicles the characteristics - and stereotypes - of the group, from the waves of immigrants who arrived in the late 19th century to the Italian Americans who live here today. The documentary filmmaker John Maggio and Maria Laurino, the author of the companion book to the series, The Italian Americans: A History (W. W. Norton and Company, 2014) discuss the ways Italian American values have shaped American culture.

The final episode airs tonight on PBS.
