J. Period – Soldiers (Weekly Music Roundup)

The DJ and producer J. Period is best known for working on the Hamilton mixtape. Now he’s working on the Rise Up project, a major effort underwritten by the Kellogg Foundation to draw young people into the arts and activism. A number of major hip hop artists are involved, and in this new single, J. Period brings in the veteran duo known as Dead Prez. The song is called “Soldiers,” and is based on the Isley Brothers remake of Neil Young’s famous protest anthem, “Ohio.”
