Hollywood's First Production Designer

Acclaimed film historian and biographer James Curtis chronicles the life of William Cameron Menzies, Hollywood's first production designer, who many consider the greatest in his field. William Cameron Menzies: The Shape of Films to Come paints a portrait of the man who dramatically influenced the film industry.

William Menzies created Atlanta for "Gone With the Wind." He also made it burn. Watch a clip below:

  • Our Town in a rare 35mm on Saturday, November 28th at 6:10 P.M.  
  • Kings Row, starring Ronald Reagan in his most famous performance, on Sunday, November 29th at 1:30 P.M.
  • The Beloved Rogue starring John Barrymore, with awe-inspiring production design by Menzies, with live piano accompaniment by Steve Sterner on Tuesday, December 1st at 8:10 P.M.
