Blue Note Jazz Festival Presents James Moody 100th Birthday at Sony Hall

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of James Moody, the jazz sax player and flutist who worked with everyone from Dizzy Gillespie to Quincy Jones. His career began in the late '40s, and he was still active up till his death in 2010. He’s probably best known for his surprise 1950's hit “Moody’s Mood For Love,” based on the song “I’m In The Mood For Love”; it became a signature tune for him. The Blue Note Jazz Festival presents a 100th birthday tribute to him on May 27 at Sony Hall, with an all star cast including Randy Brecker, Christian McBride, and many others: Terri Lyne Carrington, Paquito D’Rivera, Elena Pinderhughes, Madeleine Peyroux and Renee Rosnes. Plus, guests Jon Faddis, Tyreek McDole, Roberta Gambarini, Todd Coolman & Adam Nussbaum.
