Wire Festival is an annual celebration of techno – the musical style and the community that has grown up around it. This year’s festival takes place over two nights at the Knockdown Center in Queens and includes an appearance by one of the giants of techno, Jeff Mills. Mills helped the style come roaring out of Detroit in the 80s, and subsequently moved to New York and Berlin before settling in Chicago. Not coincidentally, those cities have all become centers of techno and will be represented in the Wire Festival. Jeff Mills is part of an extensive lineup of techno DJs and producers taking part in Wire Festival May 19-20 at the Knockdown Center.
