Josephine Wiggs – "Time Does Not Bring Relief" (Weekly Music Roundup)

Josephine Wiggs makes hard-charging, hook-laden rock with The Breeders, the alt rock supergroup she helped found in 1990. This, though, is clearly not The Breeders. This is Josephine Wiggs putting down the bass guitar and instead playing the piano, on a solo album that draws inspiration from the ambient music of Brian Eno and simple, repeating patterns of minimalism. The piano gradually accrues layers of atmospheric electronics, and restrained, but perhaps restive, drumming. The piece is called "Time Does Not Bring Relief."

New music by Josephine Wiggs, the rock bassist turned ambient keyboardist, is part of our Weekly Music Roundup
