Julian Barnes on Writing 'The Only Story'

Midday on WNYC | Apr 19, 2018

Man Booker Prize-winning author Julian Barnes talks about his novel The Only Story. It tells the story of a college-aged man and a middle-aged wife and mother who fall in love and move from a London suburb to the city’s center. The novel traces their love from its inception on a tennis court to its ultimate demise. It offers a piercing account of helpless devotion and of how memory can confound, fail and surprise us.

Julian Barnes will be in conversation with Lorrie Moore, author of See What Can Be Done, on April 23 at 8 pm at the Kaufmann Concert Hall at the 92 Y (1395 Lexington Avenue).

This segment is guest hosted by Alison Stewart.
