Julián Castro was the mayor of his native San Antonio before being appointed Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, for President Obama. A rising star of the Democratic Party, he is already getting tired of rumors that he might be Hillary Clinton’s pick for Vice-President. He spoke with David Remnick about housing inequality, gentrification, and racial segregation, and told him, “I do expect to be back in Texas next year.”
