L Train Tunnel to Get Cell Service

WNYC News | Dec 30, 2019

The MTA already has cell service in the Queens-Midtown and Hugh Carey Tunnels. All underground subway stations have it, too. But there's no phone or Wi-Fi service between stations yet.

While the L Train tunnel has been closed at night and on weekends since April, the MTA wants to take advantage of the repairs underway. So, the agency is currently collecting bids for the job, but it's unclear if the tunnel will have cell service by the time the repairs are done next spring.
