You don’t find too many electropop singers who also have a Ph.D. in Music Composition from Princeton, but Leila Adu is not just a pop singer. She’s also written classical music and been active in combining art and social justice. That makes her a natural collaborator for the PubliQuartet, a New York-based string quartet that specializes in music from underrepresented communities and composers. On Tuesday, May 25, Adu’s trio and PUBLIQuartet join forces for her first post-pandemic concert of impressionistic love songs and fierce protest songs at Roulette for a limited live audience, and as an online stream.
