Less Snow in NYC Than Anticipated, But Still a Snow Day for Students

The snow storm expected to dump snow on the region went easy on New York City, though surrounding areas did see significant snow. The National Weather Service said about 4 inches had fallen in Central Park by 1 a.m.

New York City schools will be closed Monday and alternate side parking was suspended for Monday and Tuesday. A hazardous travel advisory is in effect in New York City through Monday. You can check here for NBC 4 New York's complete list of area school closures. 

North of the city, Westchester County saw four to five inches.

New Jersey also saw more snow overnight Sunday, with 6.3 inches recorded in Union County and 3.8 at Newark Airport.
