Live at Roulette: Devon Sproule and Diane Cluck

Spinning on Air | Jul 10, 2015

In early June, Spinning On Air host/producer David Garland curated a series of concerts at Roulette in Brooklyn. Roulette has a long, illustrious history of presenting experimental music, and they asked David to bring in musicians who are expanding the song form. This week, performances from that series by Devon Sproule and Diane Cluck are featured. Both Devon and Diane take the most basic tools of the songwriter--voice and guitar--and manage to create magic: songs that surprise, engross, disarm, move, and inspire. Each of their voices shone beautifully and intimately in Roulette's large theater.

Next week, hear highlights from a concert tribute to the great British musician and songwriter Robert Wyatt, performed by some of New York City's finest musicians. Thanks to the musicians and Roulette for permission to broadcast these recordings.
