Over the course of a long career Loudon Wainwright III has produced hundreds of sly, irreverent songs – and three other musicians, Rufus Wainright, Martha Wainwright, and Lucy Wainwright Roche. Loudon gained fame in the 1970's for novelty songs like "Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road" and "Talking Big Apple ’75," but he’s often written about his own… unusual life and family. Here, he expresses his mixed feelings about reaching 64, when his dad died at 63, in a song, "Older Than My Old Man Now," recorded live in our studio in 2011. Loudon Wainwright III, plays live on Thursday night, July 8 at City Winery in New York. (He plays City Winery in Philadelphia on July 7.)
