During a career that spans three decades, guitarist Marc Ribot has done it all. He’s played rock with Elvis Costello, downtown jazz with John Zorn, and whatever it is that Tom Waits does. He’s played Haitian classical guitar music, written an album of agitated protest songs, and collaborated, sort of, with Charlie Chaplin. Marc Ribot has written music to accompany the silent Chaplin film called The Kid. He plays that music live on Wednesday night, Jan. 30, as part of the New Sounds Live silent film series at Brookfield Place.
