Mayor John Lindsay's weekly address, in which the mayor:
- urges the Federal Government to increase funding for the Neighborhood Youth Corps program
- reports on an "urban coalition" meeting where issues of the urban poor were discussed. The mayor reminds the audience that any successful region, indeed any civilization, needs cities with a strong core.
- reports on a meeting on gun control legislation, particularly mail order guns; the mayor claims that NY has the best law (the Sullivan Law) in the nation;
- goes over economic indicators for the city, which have improved, esp. in jobs;
- reports on the appointment of Nick Ortiz as the new Deputy Administrator of Housing and Development Administrator, as well as two city representatives to the new office of collective bargaining board, Timothy W. Costello and Jesse Freidin; and
- recounts the visit of Senator of Edward W. Brooke, of President Johnson's Commission on Urban Disorders, to New York City.
The Mayor finishes with pleas that citizens do not litter, keep the city quieter, and be courteous.
