Mingus Big Band at Jazz Standard, aka 'Mingus Monday'
Celebrating 10 years at Jazz Standard
Tickets: $30.  Sets at 7:30 and 9:30 pm.

The great jazz bassist and composer Charles Mingus died in 1979, but his wife, Sue Mingus, refused to let the sound of his band – tight but freewheeling – fade away. She founded the Mingus Big Band to keep that legacy alive, and for the last 10 years they’ve been doing a Monday residency at the Jazz Standard. The Mingus Big Band plays Monday night, July 1, at Jazz Standard.
