
Fifty Years After MLK: A Dream Deferred
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, The Brian Lehrer Show remembers his legacy with clips from an Apollo Theater event - moderated by Brian and All Things Considered's Jami Floyd - in which they discuss civil rights progress with scholars, community leaders, and activists, accompanied by musical performances.
Speakers Include:
Dr. Clarence Jones, civil rights leader and former attorney and adviser to Dr. King, Jeanne Theoharis, scholar and professor of Political Science at Brooklyn College and Taylor Branch, historian and author of the trilogy chronicling the life of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Rosa Clemente, activist, scholar, and 2008 Vice Presidential candidate for the Green Party, Patrisse Cullors Co-Founder of Black Lives Matter and Linda Sarsour Co-Founder of the Women’s March and activist.
Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum, Activist and spiritual leader of Congregation Beit Simchat Torah.
