#3770: Mostly Acoustic Music
Hear music by Berlin-based producer & sought-after remixer, Henrik Schwarz, performed by acoustic instruments, a major development, considering he’s well-known in the EDM world, and performs intense laptop sets. Hear Schwarz’s music arranged for Tokyo Secret Orchestra, an impressive new music ensemble adept at the repetitive grooves and hymnic anthems of say - Steve Reich or Michael Nyman. Then there’s systems music of a sort by Puerto Rican composer Dan Roman, for alto sax and viola.
Listen to multiple layers of cello (and some synth) in music from English cellist/composer Peter Gregson, from his recent record, “Touch.” Also, hear some of a suite by Munich-based American composer Gloria Coates for harp and bowed vibraphone, inspired by Shakespeare. Plus, listen to music from Dutch lute player Jozef van Wissem with feedbacky electric guitar by Jim Jarmusch, from a few years back, when they played for us in the WNYC studios.
