NJ program pairing cops, mental health workers expands to dozens of towns

New Jersey is expanding its pilot program that pairs a mental health professional with a police officer to respond to emergency calls involving someone in crisis.

The state attorney general says the program will now be offered in more than two-dozen communities, and the governor is expected to allocate $10 million dollars to offer the program statewide in the coming year. WNYC’s Nancy Solomon reports.
