NYC bans street vendors from all city bridges

For years, tourists crossing the Brooklyn Bridge have passed vendors selling souvenirs like Yankees caps and NYC license plates

But starting January 3, New York City will ban vendors from all bridges. It will be felt most directly on the Brooklyn Bridge, which is often thronged with people crossing the span on foot. Mayor Adams’ administration said the ban will make the bridge safer for pedestrians. 

Mohamed Attia from the nonprofit Street Vendor Project and Gyatso Lama who sells his art on the Brooklyn Bridge spoke with WNYC's Sean Carlson to talk more about how the new rule would affect street vendors.
